SepBeskydy Living Lab Summer Tour 2023
Beskydy 2023 CETIP-SlovakGlobe nature based work
Early August is traditionally the time for Czech-Slovak nature based work trip of CETIP Network and SlovakGlobe to Beskydy since 2015. Refreshed after summer holidays tradition is to start new academic year by reviewing work progress and discuss future plans. This year 12 researchers met to discuss PhD research progress, milestone of research projects and publications. Year 2023 has specifically targeted at 2 Horizon Europe projects: COEVOLVERS and wildE. In parallel 10 kids and family members participated at Climate Smart Camp with number of interesting and fun activities.
Professor Jiřina Jílkova’s prize for the best PhD presentation 2023
At the beginning, the doctoral seminar provides an opportunity to present and discuss the progress of doctoral studies. Rather than being a competition, the seminar aims to stimulate cross-generational collaboration and novel research ideas. The best presentation was awarded with a prize of prof. Jirina Jilkova.
A special focus of the 2023 working trip was the launch of a local meteorological station to measure the climate situation of the Beskydy Living Lab. The station, established as a product of Coevolvers co-creation, aims to measure actual temperature, radiation, wind, rain and snowfall.

Mission is to inform public via project Virtual platform beskydyonline.eu as well as to project data to climate scenarios to potentially trigger behaviour change towards climate neutrality.
The meteorological station continuously measures the following parameters: wind speed and direction, air temperature, humidity and air pressure, precipitation, daily cumulative precipitation, global radiation and snow depth. All data is available online here.
Here are some photos from the installation of the meteorological station.

To stimulate discussion about climate change, biodiversity loss and the importance of nature based solutions, IFE SAS team shared the experience from wildE Horizon Europe project and talked about the potential of rewilding activities and their management challenges in the cross border case study National Park High Tatras.
Discussion about the effective cross border coordination and fostering the transformation strategies for revitalisation of marginalized mountain areas was stimulated by Dr. Stanislava Brnkaľáková from IFE SAS and Dr. Zuzana Sarvašová from NFC who are the members of Cost Action MARGISTAR.
As a part of the trip SlovakGlobe and Cetip team members conducted 12 in dept interviews and 38 surveys. These are part of Coevolvers WP3-WP4 work.
